My SSD is acting up after just 2 months—should I be worried?

I've had my SSD for less than two months, and it was working perfectly until a few days ago. Now it sometimes runs extremely slowly, has unreadable folders, and occasionally doesn't even show up at all. I've been using it to play games like Final Fantasy 14, Street Fighter 6, and Baldur's Gate 3, and it's only about 25% full. Just yesterday, I tried to launch one of those games and got an error about missing files. When I opened the game folder in File Explorer, it couldn't be read. After restarting my computer, it worked fine again. But today, when I launched a game, everything was loading very slowly, and even WizTree was scanning it much slower than usual. Then my drive completely disappeared from File Explorer and did not appear in Disk Management either. I read somewhere that you could boot into BIOS and wait five minutes, which helped make the drive readable again, but the game still loaded slowly afterward. Strangely, when I left the game open while looking something up, it eventually started working normally again. How concerned should I be about this? Is my SSD on the verge of dying, or could it be something else? I'm using a Team Group MP33 M.2 2280 1TB PCIe 3.0 x4 SSD with NVMe 1.3 3D NAND.

First, check your SSD's health with Crystal Disk Info and run an extended self-test with GSmartControl. You can still use your computer while testing, but it'll take longer. If nothing comes up, try switching the cable. Just keep in mind, you might not be able to do that with an M.2 drive!

Haha true, M.2 connections don't really use cables like SATA drives do!

Honestly, it sounds like your SSD might have some issues. If you can, I’d recommend replacing it. Just to be safe!
