Need Advice on RAM Options for Gaming

I'm looking for some guidance on RAM alternatives since prices are really high lately. First off, can I start with a 1x16GB stick and then upgrade by buying the same model later? Is that a smart move? Also, what's the lowest speed or latency I can go for when gaming at 1080p or 1440p with the current RAM costs? Any other tips would be appreciated. Thanks!

For most games, 16GB works just fine, but you might want to really monitor your RAM usage. If you have a lot of apps running simultaneously, you could face performance issues, especially with those demanding titles that can consume up to 20-25GB of RAM. Upgrading to 32GB will let you multitask without stressing your system too much.

You could definitely start with a single 16GB stick, but keep in mind that RAM prices aren't dropping anytime soon. If it were me, I’d invest in a 2x16GB kit instead by opting for a budget motherboard or CPU to save some cash. For DDR5, going with 5600 MT/s is usually enough without significantly affecting your gaming performance.

I think you're gonna be okay! I’m using a single 16GB DDR5 stick at 4800MHz and CL40. Is it the best setup? Not exactly, but it works better than spending a fortune. Just be cautious with how many Chrome tabs or apps you have open while gaming. You might also consider tweaking your GPU settings to help manage the lower speed.
