Need Help Accessing Photos from an Old HDD

I'm trying to access my friend's photos from an old 2.5" external hard drive via USB, but I can't open the drive to view anything. I can see it in Disk Management, but it doesn't show up in Windows Explorer. I found out that the drive is from a MacBook, and after some searching, I realized that might be the issue. I downloaded MacDrive, but it shows the disk as blank. I believe it was formatted before I got it. Can anyone help me with this?

What file system does the drive use? Since it’s from a MacBook, it may be formatted as HFS+. You might need special software to read that format on Windows. 'MacDrive' you mentioned should help, but if it’s still showing blank, the drive might need additional steps to recover the data.

If the drive appears in Disk Management but not in Explorer, it likely doesn’t have a drive letter assigned. Try right-clicking on the drive in Disk Management and assigning a letter to it. This might let it show up in Explorer. If that doesn’t work, the drive might be formatted for a different OS or could possibly be failing.

It sounds like the disk is mounted, but the partitions aren't showing correctly. The 297GB partition you see might be where the data is. You should be able to right-click on that partition in Disk Management and assign a drive letter. That should help it appear in Explorer.
