Hey everyone,
I'm not super knowledgeable about PC components, so I could use some help figuring out a CPU upgrade. My gaming performance, especially in Battlefield 6, is being held back by my current CPU, and I'm feeling a bit overwhelmed by all the options available. Here's what I currently have:
- CPU: AMD Ryzen 5 3600 6-core
- Motherboard: Asus ROG STRIX B-450 E-gaming
- GPU: Nvidia GeForce RTX 2700 Super
- RAM: DDR4 16GB
- Power Supply: Corsair RM650
I really appreciate any advice you can offer to help me make a good decision!

It sounds like you might be dealing with more than just a CPU issue. Your GPU is getting a bit old too, so you should definitely check out your CPU and GPU usage while gaming. If your GPU usage isn't maxing out, just swapping the CPU may not significantly improve performance. As for CPU upgrades on AM4, I'd suggest considering the 5800X or even a 5600X since they can perform similarly for gaming. Upgrading your GPU could also be a good move—something like an RX 9060 XT could make a big difference!

Good point! I'm also planning on running some benchmarks to see where the real bottleneck is. I was hoping to avoid spending too much money, but I guess upgrading both CPU and GPU could be the best way to go for the next few years.
