I'm looking for advice on which GPU to buy for gaming, specifically for the upcoming game Arc Raiders. I have a budget of $300-$500 and can't choose between the RX 6800 XT and the newer RX 9060. I don't know much about PCs, so any guidance would be appreciated. I'll be playing at 1080p on low settings, and my CPU is a Ryzen 7 5800X.

You might also consider looking into used options like the 4070, 4070S, 5070, or 4070 Ti. They're powerful GPUs.

I recommend going for the new RX 9060 XT with 16GB. It's more future-proof with better support for new technologies.

The RX 6800 XT is known for its better rasterization performance, which is the standard rendering method. The RX 9060, on the other hand, might be a bit slower in that area but it excels in ray tracing and has newer features like FSR4 and FSR Redstone. If you're planning to play at low settings on a 1080p display, the 6800 XT would be the better choice. You probably won't need the enhanced ray tracing or FSR capabilities for that usage.
