Need Help Connecting a DVD Player to an Old Coby Camping TV for Sound Issues

I'm trying to connect my Magnavox DVD/CD Player (Model DP100MW8B) to a Coby 5-inch black and white camping TV (Model CX-TV1). The TV doesn't have RCA ports, but it does have a 'video in' port, which looks like an aux jack. I bought a 3.5mm to RCA cable and managed to get the video working, but I'm stuck with sound. It's just static, no matter what I plug in. There's also an aux port on the front of the TV and a labeled 'ext.ant' port on the back. Is it even possible to get sound from this setup? Should I look into using an external speaker or something else?

Have you checked what kind of 3.5mm plug you're using? It could be the issue. If you used a 3-pole plug instead of a 4-pole one, that might explain the sound problems.

I think I used a 3-pole one, the yellow, red, and white cables just to the aux.

I recommend trying to plug an external speaker into the headphone port on the TV. That might boost the sound and solve the static issue.
