Need Help Finding a Tech Solution for My Wife's Purse Problem

I'm in a bit of a bind with my wife's favorite purse. It's a special bag she adores and takes everywhere, but she's also quite forgetful and has left it behind at restaurants and stores around 4-5 times in the past year. Thankfully, we usually manage to get it back since she doesn't keep anything too valuable inside, but I think it's time for a tech solution.
I'm aware of Apple's AirTags, but when they first came out, they seemed pricey and I'm uncertain about their battery life. Would they be durable enough to just toss in her purse, and would we be able to track it on a map if it gets lost?
Here are some specific questions I have:
- I have an iPhone and a Mac, so I believe AirTags would work for me, but my wife has an Android device. Can AirTags connect to Android?
- If not, are there any other tracking devices that work with a Google Pixel?
- What's the battery life like on these devices?
- How precise is the tracking on the map?
Any additional advice or alternative solutions would be greatly appreciated. I know the ideal answer would be for her to keep better track of the purse, but we're ready to enlist some tech help!

You're in a bit of a hairy situation! But hey, AirTags are great, and they do need an iPhone to set them up. As for compatibility, unfortunately, AirTags won’t connect to her Android device. You might want to check out Tile or some of the new tracker cards that work across both Apple and Android devices.
About the battery life, AirTags can last for about a year, but the tracker cards usually have rechargeable batteries that might last longer. The accuracy is generally pretty good, often within 10 to 30 feet, depending on the environment. Good luck!

But seriously, an AirTag wouldn’t attach well to her bag because they are slim—perhaps a larger device like a Tile or one of those tracker cards would be better.
