I'm having some trouble with my new Audio-Technica ATR2100x-USB microphone. The mic keeps disconnecting because the USB-C connector doesn't seem to sit securely in the mic. I've already exchanged it once for a new one, but I'm facing the same problem. Does anyone have any suggestions on how to fix this?

It sounds like the ATR2100x uses a USB-C cable, right? If both your mics have the same problem, it could be a design issue or possibly the cable itself. Are you using the original USB-C cable that came with the mic? Sometimes, if you try a different cable, it might fit better. Also, just to double-check, make sure you're plugging it in all the way. Even if it powers on, it still might not be fully connected. Oh, and check for any lint or debris in the port—it can make a difference! Interestingly, some folks on Reddit mentioned that this seems to be a known issue with this mic model.

I’m not the sharpest tool in the shed, but it is indeed USB-C, and the cable they provided just doesn’t seem to fit all the way in. Here's a pic of mine: [Link](https://preview.redd.it/aonb41oe49ze1.jpeg?width=3264&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=63e7bbe1b89ca4cec59e7fbac699f820a4c38236)

  1. I had the same problem, the USB-C problem wouldn’t retain a cable properly. I fixed this by shimming one side of the cable’s connector with three small squares of masking tape, two was probably enough. I assume the outside is earth, so you don’t want to wrap tape around the connector.

It worked a treat, a much firmer connection.

I did open it up (3 screws) and considered replacing ther socket, but that’s right at the edge of my not so mad skillz.
