New RTX 5060 Ti Shows Code 43 After Upgrade

I replaced a working RTX 3050 with a brand-new GIGABYTE RTX 5060 Ti 8GB, but Windows 11 reports Code 43: "Windows has stopped this device because it has reported problems." My system uses an ASUS ROG Strix Z690-A Gaming WiFi D4 motherboard, an i7-12700KF, and a Corsair RM1000x 1000W power supply. I'm using NVIDIA driver 576.52 and also tested 576.02.

The card appears in Device Manager with the correct NVIDIA driver provider and version, but the display is stuck at 1024x768, Windows identifies the monitor only as a Generic PnP Monitor, the NVIDIA App says the drivers are not installed, and NVIDIA Control Panel is missing from the desktop context menu.

I already ran DDU in Safe Mode and reinstalled the drivers twice, verified that the correct PCIe power cable is fully connected, confirmed the NVIDIA Display Container LS service is running, and connected the monitor directly to the graphics card over DisplayPort. Could this be a compatibility issue with the Z690 platform, or is the new card likely defective?

Code 43 means Windows can see the card and install its driver, but the driver cannot communicate with it properly. That explains the fallback resolution, missing NVIDIA features, and the NVIDIA App reporting that the driver is unavailable. Since a clean driver reinstall didn’t help, a hardware fault or connection problem becomes much more likely.

Because the RTX 3050 worked in this exact system and you’ve already used DDU, check that the motherboard firmware is current and test the 5060 Ti in another compatible computer if possible. You could also test a known-good GPU in this system. If another GPU works normally here while the 5060 Ti continues showing Code 43, the new card is very likely defective and an RMA would be the sensible next step.

The motherboard BIOS was updated recently, and my other computer doesn’t have enough room to fit this card, so I can’t easily test it there.

Reseat the card and make sure it is fully inserted in the PCIe slot. It’s also worth trying the secondary full-length slot as a diagnostic, even though performance there won’t be ideal. If the same Code 43 appears in both slots, the motherboard slot is less likely to be the cause.

I tested the card in the other PCIe slot and got the same Code 43 result.
