I recently replaced my Ryzen 5 3600X with a Ryzen 7 5800X, and since then Windows no longer detects my headphones or speakers. In Device Manager, the only entry under Sound, video and game controllers is NVIDIA High Definition Audio. I installed the latest AMD chipset drivers and tried installing the Realtek audio drivers from my motherboard manufacturer, but neither fixed the issue. Onboard audio is enabled in the BIOS. What else should I check?

Make sure onboard audio is enabled in the BIOS, since a BIOS reset or hardware change can sometimes disable it. If it is already enabled, check Device Manager under Other devices for an unknown audio-related device. Uninstall it, choose the option to remove its driver if available, then restart and let Windows scan for hardware again.
Install the chipset package for your specific motherboard platform, such as B550 or X570, directly from AMD, then install the matching audio driver from the motherboard manufacturer’s support page. The CPU swap may have exposed a chipset or device-driver problem, even though the audio hardware itself is on the motherboard.
I checked the BIOS and onboard audio is enabled. I’ll look through Other devices and try removing the unknown device before scanning again.
