I upgraded my system from a Ryzen 5 3600, B450M motherboard, and 16GB of DDR4-3200 memory to a Ryzen 5 7500F, B650 motherboard, and 32GB of DDR5-6000 CL36 memory. Since the upgrade, Valorant freezes for about five seconds, runs normally for five seconds, and then freezes again repeatedly. After launching the game once, the entire PC may continue freezing even after Valorant is closed. The issue did not occur on the old platform. I moved my existing Windows installation directly onto the new hardware without reinstalling the operating system or drivers. The system drive is also around eight years old and shows only 10% health in CrystalDiskInfo. Could the old Windows installation or failing SSD be causing this, and what should I troubleshoot first?

The first thing to do is back up your important files immediately. An eight-year-old drive reporting 10% health is a serious warning sign, and it could be causing system-wide freezes. Replace it with a healthy SSD, then perform a clean Windows installation and install the B650 chipset drivers, graphics drivers, and other motherboard drivers. Moving an existing installation between platforms can sometimes work, but a clean install is the best way to rule out driver and configuration problems.
That makes sense. I was hoping to avoid buying another drive right now, but I’ll prioritize backing everything up and reinstalling once I can replace it.
