I recently built a system with a Gigabyte B550 Gaming X V2 (Rev. 1.3) motherboard and a Ryzen 7 4750G. The board is new, and when I press the power button, the CPU and case fans spin and the RAM lighting turns on, but there is no display and I cannot enter the BIOS. The system appears to restart once or twice during startup before staying powered on, and the diagnostic light behavior has been inconsistent. The 4750G was previously used in another computer where I accidentally removed the RAM while it was powered on, which damaged the RAM slots. I'm unsure whether the CPU was also harmed. I've confirmed that the 24-pin and 8-pin power cables are connected, the CPU fan is plugged in, and I've reseated the RAM and tried different slots. I haven't updated the BIOS yet. Could this be a BIOS compatibility problem, damaged CPU, faulty RAM, or a motherboard issue? What should I test first to narrow it down?

Also troubleshoot the basic video and memory paths separately. Try a different monitor cable and make sure the cable is connected to the motherboard’s video output, since the 4750G has integrated graphics. Test with only one RAM stick, trying the recommended slot and then another slot if needed. Clear the CMOS before testing again. A monitor briefly detecting a signal doesn’t prove that the system completed POST, so BIOS compatibility or memory initialization can still be the cause.
The first thing I’d try is updating the motherboard BIOS. Boards can sit in storage for a long time, and the installed version may not support the Ryzen 7 4750G. This model supports Q-Flash Plus, so you may be able to update it from a USB drive without getting a display or entering the BIOS. Follow Gigabyte’s instructions carefully and use the correct BIOS file for the exact board revision.
I’ll try the BIOS update first. I’m still wondering whether the CPU could have been damaged when the RAM was removed while the old system was running.
I’ll test another cable and one RAM stick. The monitor does flash as if it detects something when I connect it, but there’s still no image.
