PC Shows No Signal on Any Display After Windows 11 Update

My Windows 11 desktop stopped displaying anything after a system update and restart. Before the update, I had a bootable Nobara Linux USB connected because I was planning to set up a dual-boot system, but I had not changed any BIOS settings or started the installation. After the update finished, the PC would not send a signal to my monitor at all. I tried another HDMI cable, fully unplugged the computer and its peripherals for about ten minutes, and connected the tower to a TV, but none of those produced a signal. I also tried repeatedly pressing Delete to enter the BIOS, but I never saw a startup screen or BIOS display. Could the USB have confused the boot process, or is the computer failing before it reaches POST? What troubleshooting steps should I try to determine whether this is a hardware problem or a Windows issue?

You can use the bootable Linux USB as a test, but only after you get a picture during startup. If the monitor remains blank even when trying to enter BIOS, the operating system is not the main suspect. Focus on the monitor input, GPU power connections, RAM, graphics card, motherboard diagnostic indicators, and whether the fans or keyboard respond when the PC starts.

If you cannot see the manufacturer logo or BIOS screen, Windows has probably not loaded yet, so this is more likely a hardware or startup issue than a corrupted Windows installation. Check that the display cable is connected to the correct video output—if you have a dedicated graphics card, use its ports rather than the motherboard's. Also make sure the graphics card and RAM are firmly seated, and check whether the PC's diagnostic LEDs or beep codes indicate a problem.

I had not changed the BIOS and never managed to reach it, so I was unsure whether the Linux USB could have affected anything before startup.

The Linux USB being plugged in should not cause a loss of video output or prevent the BIOS screen from appearing. Remove the USB and all unnecessary peripherals, then perform a full power reset: shut the PC down, switch off or unplug the power supply, hold the power button for several seconds, reconnect power, and try again. If there is still no display, test with one RAM stick at a time and reseat the graphics card if the system has one.
