My PC suddenly powered off while I was playing Aniimo, and now it won't start again. The case RGB still lights up, but pressing the power button does nothing, and the motherboard isn't displaying any diagnostic code or number. The system has an RTX 5080, a Ryzen 7 9800X3D, and a 1000W Gold-rated power supply, possibly a Corsair RM1000e. What should I check first to determine whether the PSU, motherboard, CPU, or another component failed?

The failure could involve the PSU, motherboard, CPU, or another component. If you have access to your older PC, you may be able to test compatible parts individually, though don’t connect expensive components to a questionable power supply. A hardware failure can sometimes damage multiple parts, so test methodically or have a repair shop check the PSU and board.
Because it shut down while under load and only the RGB remains on, the power supply may have triggered its internal protection or failed. Turn the PSU switch off, unplug the power cable, and hold the case power button for around 30 seconds to discharge the system. Reconnect everything, switch the PSU back on, and try starting it again. If there’s still no response or motherboard diagnostic display, the PSU is a strong suspect.
I do have an older PC tower with an older motherboard, so I may be able to use it for limited testing if the parts and power connections are compatible.
