PC Shut Down Under Load and Won’t Boot, Though the RGB Lights Still Work

My PC suddenly powered off while I was playing Aniimo and now it won't turn back on. The RGB lighting still comes on, but pressing the power button doesn't start the system, and the motherboard isn't displaying any diagnostic code. The build uses an RTX 5080, a Ryzen 7 9800X3D, and a 1000W Gold-rated power supply, possibly a Corsair RM1000e, though I'm not completely sure of the exact model. What should I check first, and how can I determine whether the PSU, motherboard, CPU, or another component failed?

Because it shut down while under load and the RGB still receives power, the PSU may have triggered its protection circuits or failed. Turn the PSU switch off, unplug the power cable, then hold the case power button for about 30 seconds to discharge the system. Reconnect everything, switch the PSU back on, and try starting it again. If there’s still no response or motherboard diagnostic display, the PSU becomes a strong suspect.

The failure could involve the power supply, motherboard, or CPU, and a bad PSU can sometimes damage other components too. If you have another tower available, use it carefully for testing compatible parts such as the RAM and graphics card. Test one component at a time rather than swapping everything at once, so you can narrow down what failed.

MellowCactus47: I do have another tower with an older motherboard, so I’ll see which parts are compatible before testing anything.
