I'm having trouble updating my motherboard's BIOS. The update process restarts the computer, but then it powers off after about a second and won't start again unless I press the power button. The same brief startup-and-shutdown behavior was already happening occasionally before the BIOS update; usually, pressing the power button a second time would let the PC start normally. I've tried Q-Flash, the dedicated Q-Flash Plus button, several BIOS versions, and a FAT32-formatted USB drive that has worked for previous BIOS updates. Clearing the CMOS and trying to boot with a single RAM stick also didn't solve it. At this point, I'm unsure whether the BIOS update is the real problem or whether there's an issue with the power supply, motherboard, or another component.

Since the brief power-on shutdown was happening before the BIOS update, the BIOS probably isn’t the root cause. The system may be failing POST because of a power-delivery problem, such as loose PSU cables, a failing power supply, or a motherboard fault. Recheck the 24-pin motherboard connector, CPU power connector, and GPU power cables, then test with only the essential hardware connected. Q-Flash itself likely isn’t the issue if the computer was already behaving this way.
I cleared the CMOS and tried booting with one RAM stick, but neither made a difference. I’ll recheck the power connections and focus on the PSU and motherboard next.
