PC Turns On but Monitor Shows “No Signal” After Being Bumped

My name is Robert, and while I was playing Minecraft, my dog bumped the PC. The screen immediately froze, and after shutting the computer down and restarting it, the monitor now says there is no signal. I've already unplugged everything and tried removing and reinstalling the graphics card, but nothing changed. What else should I check before taking it to a repair shop?

If reseating the parts and swapping the cable do not help, remove the case cover and check that the internal boards and connectors are firmly seated. If you still get no display, a well-reviewed local computer repair shop may be a better option than a large retail service counter.

The HDMI cable or one of the ports could have been damaged or knocked loose. Try a different cable, another HDMI or DisplayPort input on the monitor, and another output on the graphics card. If your CPU supports integrated graphics, connect the monitor directly to the motherboard as a test.

Try booting with the minimum hardware possible: one RAM stick, the motherboard and CPU, and no storage drives or dedicated graphics card if the processor has integrated graphics. If that produces a display, add the components back one at a time until the problem returns.

That fixed it. I removed the RAM sticks and tested them one at a time. The computer worked with one stick installed, and after adding everything back, it’s running normally again.

Start by reseating the RAM, graphics card, and all of the power and video cables. Check both ends of the monitor cable, including the connection on the back of the monitor, since the bump may have loosened something. Remove and reinstall one component at a time so you know what changes.
