PC Won’t Start After Water Spill – What Can I Do?

I accidentally spilled a few drops of water near my PC. It seemed fine at first, and I used it for about 30 minutes before everything froze. Now, it won't post, and the CPU light is on. Upon closer inspection, I noticed some corrosion on the CPU pump fan pins, but nothing else seems damaged at first glance. This happened roughly 10 hours ago. Is my motherboard ruined, or is there anything else I can do besides just waiting?

First thing you should do is power down your PC completely. Grab some 99% isopropyl alcohol and start cleaning wherever the water might have touched. Use cotton swabs to reach those tight spots. Let it air dry for about 20 minutes, then use an air duster to blow out any remaining moisture. After that, give it a good couple of hours to dry before trying to power it back on. Remember, it’s not really the water that's the issue; it’s the gunk that gets left behind when the water evaporates, which can cause shorts.
