I disassembled my Dell Precision 5560 with an 11th-generation Core i9 and 32 GB of RAM for a thorough cleaning. It booted normally after the first reassembly and reached Windows, but the built-in keyboard and trackpad were not working. I then hibernated it, waited for the fans to stop, disconnected the battery, and reopened the laptop to reseat the keyboard and trackpad ribbon cables.
After the second reassembly, the keyboard backlight came on, the Dell logo appeared, and the system froze there while the fans ramped up. The status LED repeatedly blinked amber three times with a pause. I had not flashed or updated the BIOS.
I later disconnected the charger and left the laptop overnight, apparently allowing the battery to discharge completely. The following morning, connecting the charger produced one amber flash and a brief keyboard-backlight flash, but after about 40 minutes of charging the power button did nothing. There is now no Dell logo, normal power-on response, or amber charging pattern.
The trackpad connector marked TP has a latch that does not feel very secure, although I reseated the ribbon cable. I also disconnected the battery while the laptop was hibernating and once while it was frozen at the Dell logo, so I am unsure whether that could have caused a BIOS, RTC, or embedded-controller problem.
I have already tried an EC/RTC reset, testing the RAM individually, and Dell BIOS recovery with Ctrl+Esc while connecting the charger, but none of those worked. The laptop is currently completely dead. What hardware or connection should I check next, and is this more likely to be a board fault than a deep-discharge or BIOS-recovery issue?

Try the memory isolation test again with the laptop fully disconnected from power: remove both modules, install only one module, and test it in each slot. Then repeat with the other module. If the system has a separate keyboard or trackpad daughterboard, disconnect it temporarily in case a damaged cable or short is preventing startup. Also inspect every motherboard connector for a cable that is misaligned, incompletely latched, or pinched during reassembly.
Since it worked after the first reassembly and failed after the second, a physical problem is more likely than a BIOS lock or a deeply discharged battery. A loose ribbon cable, damaged connector latch, misplaced screw, trapped cable, or accidental short around the keyboard and trackpad assembly could all cause this behavior. Carefully inspect the board under good lighting and verify that every connector is fully seated and that no screw or metal shield is in the wrong position.
If the RAM, resets, and BIOS recovery produce no change, the remaining suspect is the motherboard or its power circuitry. A board can be damaged during disassembly, especially if a connector was forced, the battery was connected or disconnected while residual power remained, or a heatsink was difficult to remove and placed stress on the board or processor. At that point, board-level diagnostics or a motherboard replacement may be necessary rather than another recovery-key combination.

I tried testing the memory individually. Connecting the charger gives one amber flash, then the keyboard stays lit briefly before shutting off, but it never reaches POST.
