Hey everyone! I'm trying to upgrade my little brother's Zephyrus GU502DU laptop by adding an 8GB RAM stick. Right now, it has 8GB of 2400 MT/s RAM, and I purchased a Samsung 8GB PC4 DDR4 2400T SODIMM for the upgrade. However, I'm having trouble installing it. The new stick doesn't seem to seat properly because there's a small black piece on the right side that's preventing it from fully clicking into place. When I attempt to snap it down, the lock on the right side doesn't click. If I leave it like that and try to boot up, I only get a black screen. I've reset the BIOS settings to default and even disconnected the CMOS battery, but no luck. Could the problem be with the RAM stick itself or the slot? Any advice would be appreciated!

It looks like the RAM might not be seated correctly, especially on the right side. Ensure that the notch in the RAM module lines up perfectly with the tab in the slot. If everything lines up but it still won't click in, that black piece might be blocking it from seating properly. Try checking if it’s connected to the motherboard and if it's removable without causing damage. It could also be a motherboard issue if it's finicky with certain RAM sticks.
I had a similar problem with my laptop! Sometimes certain RAM slots are a bit picky with the specs of the RAM. If the RAM isn't recognized properly, it causes boot issues.
