Hey there! I'm looking to build a 'Steam Machine' using some old parts I have. I've got an MSI B550 motherboard that's AMD-compatible and 16GB of DDR4 RAM. I'm also planning to reuse a 600W power supply from a desktop I built about 10 years ago, but it still works fine!
I'm on the hunt for an affordable AMD processor and I'm contemplating a 3070 Ti for the graphics card. Do you have any suggestions for a budget-friendly CPU and GPU? I'm aiming for decent performance at 1440p since this won't be my main gaming setup—my PS5 takes that role! I enjoy open-world action games and I'm interested in modding, particularly those cool mods for Starfield and the Game of Thrones mod for Bannerlord II. Thanks for your help!

The AMD Ryzen 5500 is a decent and affordable choice! For graphics, the 3060 or 3060 Ti are also solid options. If you're considering something even cheaper, you might want to look at the RX 6600, especially if you can find good deals on used parts.

Yeah, the 5500 is pretty affordable. Still, I prefer the 5600X for around $120 because it's a bit more powerful, though it might not be worth the extra cash if you're on a tight budget.
