Seeking Advice on Upgrading My PC: Drivers and Software Backup

I'm upgrading my PC with a new motherboard and GPU, and I'm quite concerned about potential conflicts with old drivers and software after the upgrade. Is there a method to back up my current drivers and software onto another drive so that I can uninstall them once I switch? I've also heard it's best to perform a clean install of Windows, which I'm open to, but I'm worried about losing important files from my current setup. Since I've made mistakes in the past about where to install programs, I want to ensure I handle this carefully. Any tips for a successful upgrade while keeping my data safe?

It's definitely a good idea to back everything up before you start. Doing a clean reinstall is often the best route when changing motherboards, as old drivers can cause issues. You can use an external hard drive to store your backups. Just make sure to read up on how to do it properly, so you don’t lose anything important.

Should I also check the AppData folders for Steam or Epic Games? Most of my games are on a separate drive, but I'm worried about the saved data and where Windows stores the important files.
