Hey everyone! I'm considering an upgrade from my current Nvidia GTX 3070. The AMD 9070XT caught my eye, but the price is pretty high here in Canada, around $1000. I'm using Arch Linux, which makes an AMD card a more appealing choice for me. Currently, I'm gaming at 1080p, but I have plans to move up to 1440p in the future.
I'm facing a few challenges: 1) I'm running into VRAM limitations, which is frustrating since the card performs decently otherwise. 2) I'm worried about rising prices, especially after the pandemic price hikes. 3) The 9070XT looks great, but I'm hesitant about spending that much. Should I take the plunge? What are my best upgrade options?

Hey there! I feel you on the 9070XT being pricey in Canada, but if you're planning to game at 1440p, it might be your best bet. The 3070 is still pretty capable, so you could hold off and see if prices drop. I’ve got a 9060XT with 16GB, and while it handles 1440p, it’s starting to show signs of struggle with the latest games. Just keep an eye out for any good deals!
I'm in Australia and facing similar GPU market challenges. The 9060XT is a great option and you might find it for a lot less than the 9070XT. Just check out benchmarks to see if the performance difference meets your needs for 1440p gaming.
I used to have a 3070 but upgraded to a 5070. I noticed a significant boost. Though I returned it for a 5070ti because I needed a bit more for VR. If you're looking at AMD, I'd only go for it if it's much cheaper than an Nvidia card. Otherwise, the Nvidia upgrade path is solid, too.
Have you thought about the non-XT version? It should be a bit cheaper but still offers solid performance if you’re not looking to break the bank.

I appreciate the insight! I'll definitely check out those benchmarks. It’s good to know I have options!
