I recently downloaded a video from a website and now I'm feeling a bit paranoid about the possibility of malware. I'm using an Acer Aspire 7 with Windows 11, and I just want to know if there's any risk involved in downloading videos from sites like this. Am I being overly cautious?

Generally, videos themselves can’t carry malware. You’d usually only have a problem if you accidentally download a suspicious application disguised as a video file. Just be cautious about what you click on!

If you’re downloading a video from the site directly, you're likely fine. As long as the download is just a video file (like an mp4), you should have nothing to worry about. However, steer clear of downloads that ask you to save executable files, like .exe files, as those can be harmful.

I downloaded the video directly from the site without leaving it. Does that change anything?
