Should I Be Worried About My Ryzen 7 9800X3D Burning Up?

I just built a new PC with a Ryzen 7 9800X3D, a 5070 Ti, and a Gigabyte B850 Gaming X motherboard. However, I've come across some discussions about the 9800X3D burning out, especially with users on Asus motherboards. I'm feeling pretty anxious about this and wondering if I need to send my CPU back. What should I do?

You're probably okay! The reports of 9800X3D burning issues have been mostly linked to ASRock boards, not yours. Just keep an eye on the SOC voltage—try to keep it at 1.2V max, but a little over shouldn't be a problem. You're good to go, so stop stressing!

I understand your concerns, but I wouldn't worry too much. Updating your BIOS can help, and the failure rate for these CPUs is quite low, around 1%. Also, your warranty should cover it in case anything does happen. Just make sure you have that invoice since that will help you with the warranty process!

Thanks for that! I was planning to update my BIOS and maybe underclock my CPU just in case. I did buy it from a pro on eBay, and he said he would provide an invoice. I checked AMD's warranty conditions, and there's no strict requirement for it to be purchased from a trusted seller, so I'm relieved!
