I'm trying to decide between purchasing a used Ryzen 5800X for $100 or a new Ryzen 5600X for $120 from AliExpress. I currently have a Ryzen 2700X and I'm not very familiar with how the used CPU market is performing these days. Is the price for the 5800X reasonable, or would it be wiser to just go for the newer 5600X?

Definitely go for the used 5800X! It has more cores and higher boost potential, which will give you better performance overall for gaming and multitasking.

I was unsure if that was an obvious choice given the age of the CPUs. Thanks for clarifying!

Just a heads up, if you're using the stock AMD cooler, you might want to look into an upgrade since the 5800X can get a bit hot when gaming with the stock cooler.

I appreciate the tip! It's coming with the stock cooler, but I also have the Wraith Prism from my 2700X—I'll check if that makes a difference.

CPUs typically hold up well over time unless they're from Intel, especially with the release of the newer generations. I think the used 5800X is a solid deal, especially at that price.

Thanks! I did hear about Intel's recent issues... good to know that AMD's AM4 platform is still performing well.
