Should I Choose 32GB of 6000MHz RAM or 64GB of 4000MHz RAM?

I'm currently using 32GB of 6000MHz DDR5 RAM with no issues. Recently, I got two additional 16GB sticks and tested them, but it dropped the speed to 4000MHz with all four slots filled. I reverted back to the 32GB setup. I'm curious if doubling the RAM to 64GB but at a lower speed would be a better choice, especially since I don't have extensive knowledge in PC building, as a friend assembled most of my rig.

You have to evaluate whether you need more RAM or faster speeds. If your tasks demand more RAM, then go for the 64GB, but if not, sticking with the 32GB at a higher speed is likely best. In an ideal scenario, you could sell all four sticks and buy two 32GB sticks, which could give you a good balance.

The effectiveness really hinges on what software you're using. Some engineering applications benefit from more RAM, but you might want to ensure that those applications can take advantage of it before making a switch.

In general, using two sticks instead of four is often more efficient because it can lead to better memory performance and stability.

It really depends on your usage. Not many games require more than 32GB of RAM. If you're not playing high-end games often and primarily engage with engineering software, then the extra RAM might help, but speed also plays a role. Think of it this way: if you only have a certain amount of work (like 20 gallons of water), having a giant container (64GB) might be unnecessary compared to a smaller one (32GB).
