Hey everyone! A friend of mine just passed down his gaming PC, and I'm trying to decide whether I should invest in a 2K or 4K monitor. I've primarily gamed on consoles, so I'm not super familiar with PC hardware. Here are the specs of the machine: it has an RTX 5080 GPU, an R7 9800X3D CPU, 32GB of DDR5 RAM, and a 4TB SSD. Based on this, would you recommend going for a 4K monitor or sticking with 2K? Any advice would be greatly appreciated! Edit: Wow, I didn't realize how high-end it is, so I might lean towards 1440p for better frames instead. Thanks for the input!

4K makes those single-player games look stunning, but if you value FPS, stick with 2K for multiplayer games. You lose some performance at 4K.
Honestly, I wouldn't go beyond 2K. A 27 or 32" monitor at 2K looks amazing, and you’ll enjoy higher refresh rates without sacrificing performance too much. 4K can often lead to lower FPS, which is a bummer for gameplay.
It's all about your gaming style. If you're into competitive shooters, I'd recommend a 1440p monitor with a high refresh rate for a smoother experience. But if you love single-player games, then 4K would be the way to go.
Go for 4K! With that setup, especially the 5080, you can handle 4K gaming pretty well. Just be ready for those rich visuals!
Why not try 1440p? It's the sweet spot right now; you’ll get great visuals without the major FPS drop that can come with 4K.
