I'm trying to decide between the 9700X and the 7800X3D for my new PC build. The price difference is just 50€ (the 9700X is 330€ and the 7800X3D is 380€), but I'm a bit tight on budget. I'll mainly be using this PC for gaming (planning to play titles like Stalker 2, Cities Skylines 2, Counter-Strike 2, and GTA 6) and for some amateur music production in Ableton Live Suite. Considering that both have eight cores, would the 7800X3D be a better long-term choice? I'm trying to keep my total budget around 2200€, but it's currently looking like 2350€ since I'm also getting a 5070 Ti 16 GB. Thanks for any advice!

If you're playing Counter-Strike 2 often, the 7800X3D might be the better option for performance. Stalker 2 is GPU-bound, but still, a good CPU helps with optimization in poorly running games.
Don't overlook the 96MB of L3 cache that comes with the 7800X3D. It can really enhance performance in both gaming and multi-threaded applications like music production.
How does L3 cache impact gaming and music producing?
Honestly, for just 50€ more, I'd recommend going with the 7800X3D. It's likely to serve you better down the line, especially for games like GTA 6 which might be CPU intensive with ray tracing.
Yeah, I think I'll go with the 7800X3D since it’s only 50 euros more.

Yes, I play CS2 most often. Seems like an easy choice now that I realized the price difference is minimal!
