I'm choosing a power supply for a Ryzen 9850X3D and Radeon 9070 XT, with a possible RTX 5080 upgrade in the future. I want something high-quality and very quiet, and both the ASUS ROG Strix 1000W and Corsair RM850x Shift receive similarly strong noise and efficiency ratings from Cybenetics.
The ASUS unit is currently about €150 where I live, while the Corsair costs around €175. I've heard excellent things about the RM850x Shift's build quality and acoustics, but the ASUS is both higher wattage and cheaper. I'm also using quiet Noctua fans and an AIO, so minimizing noise is important. Is the ASUS ROG Strix 1000W the obvious choice, or is the Corsair worth paying extra for?

I’d lean toward the Corsair Shift if the extra €25 is insignificant to you. For a high-end system, that price difference is small, and the Shift models are well regarded for being quiet. That said, I’d look at the 1000W Shift only if you genuinely want the extra capacity—it costs around €220 in this market, so the cheaper ASUS is difficult to ignore.
At those prices, the ASUS looks like the practical choice. It gives you more headroom while costing €25 less, and it already has a strong reputation for efficiency and low noise. I’d still compare other models available in your region, since there may be similarly good units for less.
You could also consider a be quiet! Dark Power 14. It has a zero-RPM mode and is effectively silent in my experience without needing any special configuration. The 850W version may be worth checking if it’s close in price, although in some regions it costs considerably more than either of these options.
