I'm building a new gaming PC in a few days and can't decide between the RTX 5060 Ti 8GB and RX 9060 XT 16GB. I'm upgrading from an i5-10400F and GTX 1660 Super, so either card would be a major improvement. I mainly play competitive games, including The Finals and Marvel Rivals, but I also want to play AAA titles such as Elden Ring and Cyberpunk 2077. I currently use a 1080p display, though I'd like to move to 1440p eventually. In my region, the RX 9060 XT 16GB costs about 28,000 EGP, or roughly $560, while the RTX 5060 Ti 8GB costs around 26,000 EGP, or $520. The 16GB version of the RTX 5060 Ti is over 35,000 EGP and outside my budget. I'm concerned that the AMD card might lack Nvidia's software features, especially with newer upscaling and frame-generation technologies, but I'm also worried that 8GB of VRAM won't be enough for future games. The card will be paired with a Ryzen 5 7500F and 16GB of DDR5 memory. Which would be the better choice for gaming?

The RTX card has advantages in ray tracing, power efficiency, and Nvidia’s feature set, but neither model is really intended for heavy ray tracing at 1440p. I also wouldn’t make the decision based on rumored future features—the performance cost may mean they’re most useful on much faster cards. Since you’re comparing the 8GB Nvidia model rather than the 16GB version, I’d take the AMD card.
The Radeon is the better value, although AMD drivers can occasionally require more troubleshooting than Nvidia drivers. If you’re comfortable reinstalling or rolling back drivers and fixing the occasional Windows issue, that shouldn’t be a deal-breaker. The 16GB model is also a safer long-term choice than buying an 8GB GPU at this price.
For gaming, I’d choose the 9060 XT. Eight gigabytes is becoming a serious limitation in some recent titles, and software features can’t completely compensate when the card runs out of VRAM. The extra $40 is well worth it, especially since you plan to keep the card for several years.
The RX 9060 XT 16GB is the clear choice at those prices. Performance should be broadly similar, but the extra VRAM gives you much more breathing room for newer games and a future 1440p upgrade. I wouldn’t pay this much for an 8GB card unless you had a very specific reason to prefer Nvidia.
