I'm building a gaming PC with 32GB of DDR5 memory, a Ryzen 7 9850X3D processor, and an MSI Pro X870E-P WiFi motherboard. I'm deciding between an NVIDIA RTX 5070 with 12GB of VRAM and an AMD RX 9070 XT with 16GB. I play all kinds of games, including Battlefield and single-player titles, and I want high frame rates with strong visual quality. I have a basic understanding of PC components, so I'd appreciate advice on which card offers the better overall gaming experience and whether my Corsair RM750e power supply is sufficient.

If both cards cost about the same, I’d choose the 9070 XT. It is roughly a tier above the RTX 5070 for ordinary gaming, and the extra VRAM is useful for demanding games. NVIDIA may still have advantages in some ray-tracing or path-tracing workloads, along with features such as DLSS and broader application support, but those benefits don’t automatically outweigh the 9070 XT’s stronger overall performance.
Your Corsair RM750e should be sufficient for this setup, assuming it’s in good condition and connected properly. An 850W model would provide more headroom and could be worth considering if you’re still able to exchange the power supply, but it isn’t necessary just to run the 9070 XT.
The Ryzen 7 9850X3D is a very powerful gaming CPU, and neither of these cards is an inappropriate match for it. At very high refresh rates or lower resolutions, you may occasionally become CPU-limited, but that doesn’t mean you need to jump to an RTX 5080. Choose based on your target resolution, prices, and whether you need NVIDIA-specific features rather than worrying about a major bottleneck.
For gaming, the RX 9070 XT is generally the stronger choice. It is typically faster in regular rasterized games and has 16GB of VRAM, which gives it more breathing room for newer titles and higher resolutions. The RTX 5070 mainly becomes more attractive if you specifically need NVIDIA features or software support.

That’s the main distinction: if you don’t know whether you need CUDA, you probably don’t need it. CUDA is NVIDIA’s computing platform used by applications such as certain Blender, AI, and production workloads; it isn’t required for normal gaming.
