I currently have an i5-10400F, 16GB of 2333MHz DDR4, and an RX 9070 XT that I recently upgraded to. I'm now planning to replace the CPU and move to the same motherboard platform for either option. My choices are a Ryzen 5 7500F with 2x16GB of 6000MHz CL30 memory, or a Ryzen 5 7500X3D with a single 16GB 6000MHz CL30 stick, with the intention of adding a second stick later when memory prices drop or my budget allows it. I mainly want to know which setup makes more sense for gaming. I also keep apps such as Spotify, Discord, and Opera GX open while playing.

I’d lean toward the 7500X3D with 16GB and add the second stick later. Replacing a CPU down the road is more involved than upgrading the memory, and the X3D model should provide better gaming performance and smoother frame times in CPU-limited situations.
The 7500X3D makes more sense if your priority is maximum gaming performance right now, especially in CPU-heavy games or at high refresh rates. The extra cache can improve average FPS and 1% lows, while adding another memory stick later is relatively simple.
I’d choose the 7500F with 32GB. It should still be plenty capable with an RX 9070 XT, and having dual-channel memory plus enough capacity is useful for gaming with several background apps. You can always upgrade to a stronger AM5 CPU later.
Sixteen gigabytes is still usable for current games, including demanding ones, but it leaves less room for background programs. If you rarely run out of memory, option two gives you the faster gaming CPU now. If your system is already close to using all 16GB, option one is the more comfortable and balanced build.
