I've noticed a thin, light piece of dust that looks a bit like hair sitting right next to my GPU's power connector. I'm wondering if I should try to remove it myself right now or just leave it for a few months. Will it be a problem if I don't do anything about it? Is it safe to leave a small piece of dust in that area, especially since it's touching the power connector and the PSU cable?

It's a good idea to try and remove the dust, especially since it's close to the power connector where it could pose a risk. Just make sure your PC is completely off and disconnected from the wall before cleaning. If you're really cautious, consider using isopropyl alcohol or a soft cloth.

I'm really new to this cleaning thing, and the fact that it’s near the power connector freaks me out! I usually let someone else handle the cleaning every six months. Is it really okay to just leave it there for half a year?
