I'm looking to upgrade my tired old CPU (5800X) without changing my reliable 3080 GPU. I'm stuck between the 7800X3D and the 9900X, as both are the same price in my area. I know the X3D is optimized for gaming, which is my primary use, but I'm pondering if the 9900X might be the better choice long-term since it's a newer chip. I've heard that beyond 6 cores, extra cores don't significantly affect gaming performance, plus benchmarks for both CPUs are quite similar. What would you recommend based on my situation?
