I'm currently using a Ryzen 7 5700X and an RX 9060 XT with 16GB of VRAM. I'm wondering whether it makes more sense to stay on AM4 for now or move to an AM5 platform given current Australian component prices. I mainly want to know whether the upgrade would provide a noticeable benefit or if I should keep my existing system longer.

There’s no reason to change platforms just for the sake of having AM5. A platform upgrade means buying a new motherboard and DDR5 memory as well as the CPU, so the total cost can be significant in Australia. If your 5700X is still performing well, put the money toward a future GPU or wait until you can make a larger upgrade.
For gaming, your graphics card is probably going to be the limiting component before the 5700X is. Unless you’re trying to drive very high frame rates or using a particularly powerful GPU, moving to AM5 may not make a noticeable difference right now. I’d keep the current setup and upgrade when it stops meeting your needs.
If you want one more AM4 upgrade later, a Ryzen X3D chip could extend the system’s gaming life, provided you can find one at a reasonable price. Otherwise, skipping that step and moving to AM5 during your next full rebuild is probably the better value. Upgrade now only if you have a specific performance problem that your current system cannot handle.
