I'm building my first PC and found unusually good deals on both an RX 6600 XT and an RX 6750 XT, so I bought both and plan to sell one. The rest of the build includes a B550 motherboard, a Ryzen 5 5600X, 16GB of DDR4-3200 memory, a 512GB NVMe SSD, and a 750GB hard drive. I currently have a 550W BN-series power supply, although the RX 6750 XT needs two separate 8-pin PCIe connectors, so I may need to replace it anyway.
The main games I care about are modded Minecraft with shaders and Cities: Skylines II. I'm perfectly comfortable playing around 60 FPS at medium settings, but I'm wondering whether the RX 6750 XT's extra performance and VRAM would be more valuable than keeping the RX 6600 XT and using the extra money for 32GB of RAM, more SSD storage, or possibly a stronger CPU. The RX 6600 XT would make roughly $70 profit when sold, while selling the RX 6750 XT would make around $150. Which card makes the most sense for this build and these games?

The 6750 XT is the better long-term choice. Cities: Skylines II and modded Minecraft can both become demanding, and the stronger GPU gives you more headroom for shaders, larger cities, and higher settings. The Ryzen 5 5600X is a reasonable match and shouldn’t be a major bottleneck, particularly at 1440p.
Keep the RX 6750 XT. It’s a noticeably faster card—roughly 25–30% ahead of the RX 6600 XT at 1080p and even stronger at 1440p—and it also gives you more VRAM. That extra GPU performance will be much more noticeable in demanding games than the difference between 16GB and 32GB of memory in most titles.
You can keep the 6750 XT and temporarily reduce its power limit if you’re waiting to buy a PSU, but I wouldn’t treat that as a substitute for a proper replacement. The card is fast enough that the extra VRAM and performance should remain useful for several years, so the best order is probably: reliable 650W PSU first, then 32GB of RAM, followed by additional SSD storage.
Check the power supply before installing the 6750 XT. Since your specific card requires two separate 8-pin PCIe power connections and the current unit only has one, replacing the PSU is the sensible option. A reputable 650W model with the required separate PCIe cables would give you comfortable headroom; avoid relying on adapters or daisy-chained connectors if the manufacturer calls for two separate cables.
That was my concern too. I’ll plan on replacing the 550W unit rather than trying to force the existing cables to work.
You should seriously consider 32GB of RAM eventually, especially for Cities: Skylines II and heavily modded Minecraft, but I wouldn’t choose the weaker graphics card just to get it immediately. Start with the 6750 XT and upgrade the memory when you can. Expanding the SSD is also worthwhile because 512GB fills up quickly, but it won’t improve gaming performance as much as keeping the faster GPU.
That makes sense. I was leaning toward keeping it because I figured I’d regret selling the faster card, especially if I start increasing the settings later.
