I'm currently using an RTX 3060 Ti Founders Edition with a Ryzen 5 5600X, and I play at 1440p on Linux. I've started running into VRAM limitations, along with occasional NVIDIA X Wayland issues. I also use this PC for homelab tasks such as media servers and Docker containers, which consume a significant amount of system resources.
I'm considering buying a PowerColor 9060 XT Reaper 16GB for about $439.99, selling my 3060 Ti for roughly $200, and putting the remaining money toward a Micro Center bundle with a Ryzen 5 7500X3D, motherboard, and RAM for $399.99. I live near a Micro Center, so I can purchase the parts there easily.
The alternative is to spend less on the graphics card upgrade and put more of the budget toward a faster GPU, such as a 9070-series model. Would it make more sense to upgrade both the platform and GPU with the 9060 XT, or keep my current CPU platform and prioritize a stronger graphics card for 1440p gaming?

Consider a 9070 GRE if it’s only around $60 more than the 9060 XT in your area. It has 12GB of VRAM instead of 16GB, but its performance is noticeably higher and it should be a better match for 1440p gaming. You could pair it with the Micro Center platform bundle and get a more balanced upgrade.
I’d go with the 9060 XT and 7500X3D combination. It upgrades both your gaming performance and the CPU, motherboard, and memory resources needed for your servers and containers, rather than putting nearly the entire budget into graphics performance alone.
The 7500X3D bundle is a strong platform upgrade, especially since your homelab workloads are using a lot of CPU and memory resources. Moving to AM5 also gives you a future upgrade path for later X3D processors. Pairing it with the 9060 XT 16GB should be a solid overall improvement from your current system.
That seems like a reasonable compromise unless the extra 4GB of VRAM on the 9060 XT is especially important for the games and workloads I use.
