I have a fairly basic Ryzen 7 7700 system and don't usually change settings or overclock. The included Wraith Prism cooler works, but it can be noisy, and I'd also like to disable its RGB lighting. My brother recently replaced an Arctic Freezer 36 A-RGB White with a liquid cooler and offered me the Arctic cooler for free. I couldn't find a clear comparison between the two coolers, so I'm wondering whether the Freezer 36 would be a worthwhile upgrade. My case is quite old and currently has only one rear exhaust fan; the other fans are on the CPU cooler, graphics card, and power supply. Is the improved cooling and noise level worth switching, and are there any compatibility or airflow concerns I should check?

The Wraith Prism is adequate for running the processor within its normal specifications, but aftermarket coolers are generally much quieter and give you more thermal headroom. The Freezer 36 should be a noticeable quality-of-life upgrade, especially during sustained workloads. It’s still worth checking your current CPU temperatures and noise first, since the benefit will be smaller if the Prism is already quiet and cool in your system.
A temperature reduction of roughly 5–10°C would be a reasonable expectation, although the exact result depends on your case and fan curves. Before installing it, check the maximum CPU cooler height listed for your case and make sure the front fan won’t interfere with your memory modules. Adding another intake fan would also help if your case supports one.

The case is an old ATX model that originally came from an ASUS prebuilt. Everything inside has been upgraded, but I’m not sure the exact model is still available, so I’ll need to measure the internal clearance directly.
