I bought a Seagate Barracuda 8TB hard drive from a trusted retailer. On the first file transfer, the write speed dropped to zero and never recovered. CrystalDiskInfo is reporting a Caution status with a Reallocated Sectors Count value of 463. The drive shows zero power-on hours, appears to be genuine, and is still covered by the manufacturer's warranty. Since reallocated sectors can sometimes be harmless on older drives, should I try troubleshooting or keep using it, or should I return it for a replacement or refund?

I would request a replacement or refund rather than start an RMA unless the retailer requires it. Even if the drive is genuine and the power-on-hours value has not been altered, the SMART warning is enough reason not to use it for important data.
A different brand is optional, but the important part is not to keep this particular drive. Back up anything already copied to it, stop testing it with valuable data, and exchange it for another unit.
