Should I switch from 1440p 180Hz to 1080p 240Hz for Valorant?

I'm currently using a Ryzen 7 7800X3D with an RTX 4060 Ti 8GB and a 1440p 180Hz monitor. I mainly play Valorant, where performance is already good, but I recently tried a similar setup with a 1080p display and it felt noticeably smoother. Would switching to 1080p at 240Hz give me a meaningful competitive advantage, or should I keep the sharper 1440p monitor?

For Valorant, 1080p at 240Hz can make sense if youโre specifically chasing every possible competitive advantage. The extra refresh rate and easier-to-drive resolution may help with consistency, but the difference between 180Hz and 240Hz is fairly small. Iโd keep the 1440p monitor unless your current frame rate or responsiveness actually feels inadequate.

Iโd stay at 1440p. Once you get used to it, 1080p can look noticeably soft and the larger interface elements may bother you. Your 7800X3D is more than capable for Valorant, and the 4060 Ti should handle competitive settings at 1440p well. A GPU upgrade later would be a better way to improve demanding games than downgrading the display.

The monitor itself matters more than the headline refresh rate. Going from 180Hz to 240Hz is a modest improvement, so check response times, motion clarity, input lag, and panel quality before buying anything. If your current display is already fast and responsive, I wouldnโt give up 1440p just for another 60Hz. Consider switching only if you play Valorant very competitively and genuinely prefer the smoother 1080p experience.
MellowPine47: Valorant is my main game, but I donโt feel like the current performance is bad. Iโm leaning toward keeping 1440p unless I can try a 240Hz monitor first.

MellowPine47: Valorant performance is already good, and I usually get over 200 FPS in other games with medium settings. Iโm mostly wondering whether the smoother feeling came from the monitor or from the other systemโs CPU.
