Should I Switch to Nvidia After My RX 9060 XT Failed?

I recently bought a PowerColor RX 9060 XT 16GB, but it had faulty VRAM and was sent in for repair. After reading about AMD GPU instability, I'm wondering whether I should replace it with an Nvidia card instead. Could the problem be caused by my system, or was the graphics card likely just defective? My current setup: - CPU: AMD Ryzen 7 5700X - CPU cooler: be quiet! Pure Rock 3 LX - Case: Fractal Design Pop Air RGB - Power supply: Seasonic Focus GX ATX 3, 750W, 80+ Gold - GPU: PowerColor RX 9060 XT Reaper 16GB GDDR6 - Motherboard: ASUS TUF Gaming B550M-PLUS WIFI II - Storage: Kingston A400 960GB SATA SSD, 238GB Western Digital SN530 NVMe SSD, and a 1TB Toshiba HDD - Memory: 32GB DDR4-3200 CL22 installed as one stick

The bigger weakness in this build is the memory configuration. One 32GB stick runs in single-channel mode, which can reduce gaming performance and hurt 1% lows. Replacing it with a matched 2x16GB kit would help, ideally DDR4-3200 CL16 or DDR4-3600 CL18. That issue is separate from the faulty VRAM and wouldnโ€™t explain a defective GPU.

The power supply is good quality and 750W is normally enough for this setup. A higher-wattage unit could provide more headroom for transient spikes, but thereโ€™s no clear reason to blame the build for the card failure. If the repaired card still has problems, the sensible next step is a full warranty replacement.

I wouldnโ€™t switch brands because of one failed graphics card. A defective VRAM chip is usually just a bad unit, and Nvidia cards can also arrive faulty. Your system is compatible with the RX 9060 XT, and the 750W Seasonic power supply should generally be adequate. If the repair doesnโ€™t solve it, use the warranty for a replacement rather than assuming all AMD cards are unreliable.

AMD drivers arenโ€™t inherently unstable these days, and changing to Nvidia would probably mean paying more for similar or worse performance. Depending on local prices, the comparable Nvidia options may only get you an RTX 5060 or an RTX 5060 Ti with 8GB, which could be a downgrade from a 16GB RX 9060 XT. Iโ€™d wait for the repaired card or request a replacement.
