I currently have an Intel Core i7-14700F, 32GB of RAM, and an RTX 5080 running Windows 11. I'm considering upgrading to a Core i9 or Ryzen 9 and I'm willing to replace the motherboard if switching platforms is worthwhile. Which option would be the better choice for my setup, and what additional details should I consider before deciding?

More information is needed before making a recommendation. Your intended use matters—gaming, streaming, video editing, compiling, and other workloads can favor different CPUs. You should also specify the exact Core i9 and Ryzen 9 models you're comparing, since performance varies significantly between generations.
You can upgrade to a compatible Core i9 without changing platforms, while moving to Ryzen 9 would require a new motherboard. However, the exact i9 and Ryzen 9 models matter a lot, so there isn't a universal winner.
The i7-14700F is already a very capable processor and should be enough for most gaming and general-use setups, especially when paired with an RTX 5080. Upgrading just for the sake of moving to an i9 or Ryzen 9 may not provide a noticeable improvement.
