I'm currently using an i3-10100F along with 16GB of RAM and an RTX 3050 (8GB) for gaming, mostly at 1080p. I'm considering an upgrade to the i5-10400F and I'm curious if this would be a wise choice. Specifically, I'm looking for improvements in FPS stability and whether the additional cores would help reduce stuttering during gameplay.

Upgrading to the i5-10400F should definitely help with your performance at 1080p since the CPU plays a significant role in gaming. Just keep in mind that it might not drastically boost your FPS, but it should help with stability.
Check if your GPU is running at its max capacity. If your CPU is holding you back, then upgrading will likely make a difference in your gaming experience.
If your motherboard can handle it, you might want to look into the i5-11600K instead. It tends to be around 30% faster than the i5-10400F and is often reasonably priced.
I have an LGA 1200 motherboard, so that option won't work for me.

Thanks for the insight! Do you think I'll actually see a notable FPS increase after the upgrade?
