I'm considering upgrading from my RTX 3070 Founders Edition to the new 5070 Founders Edition. The 5070 is priced at $549, and I'm curious if it would be worth the investment. Has anyone made this switch or have insights on whether the performance gains justify the cost?

It’s definitely worth it if you can sell your 3070 for a good price, ideally between $400-$500 if you know how to sell it. But don’t go below $350. Just be realistic about the resale prices right now—some people doubt you'll get that much for a 3070 nowadays.

You can find used 3070 Ti cards for under $300 on eBay. Plus, with the 5070 priced around $550 or even less sometimes, it’s hard to see how you think you’ll get $400-500 for a 3070.

That’s wild! Used 3070s are going for about 300-400 CAD in my area, while a used 4070 is around 500-600 CAD. It makes me question who would pay $400 USD for a 3070 when there are better deals out there.

Who's buying a 3070 for that much? I think that’s a bit optimistic based on current market trends.

If you can sell your 3070 FE for around $230, you’d really only be spending about $320 on the 5070. I think that makes it worth it! But if possible, you might want to look into the 5070 Ti or 9070 XT for even better performance.

It honestly depends on your current setup. If your card is already performing well, then an upgrade might not be necessary since the difference may not be that noticeable. But if you’re stuck with a lower-end card that struggles with newer games, then it’s likely worth the upgrade.

I'd suggest waiting unless you’re gaming at 1440p or really want to play the latest AAA titles. According to ValueGPU, the performance jump is significant, going from a 3DMark score of 13663 to 21278, which is a 55.7% increase.
