Should I Upgrade from RTX 3070 to 5070?

I'm considering upgrading from my RTX 3070 Founders Edition to the new 5070 Founders Edition. The 5070 is priced at $549, and I'm curious if it would be worth the investment. Has anyone made this switch or have insights on whether the performance gains justify the cost?

I'd suggest waiting unless you’re gaming at 1440p or really want to play the latest AAA titles. According to ValueGPU, the performance jump is significant, going from a 3DMark score of 13663 to 21278, which is a 55.7% increase.

It honestly depends on your current setup. If your card is already performing well, then an upgrade might not be necessary since the difference may not be that noticeable. But if you’re stuck with a lower-end card that struggles with newer games, then it’s likely worth the upgrade.

If you can sell your 3070 FE for around $230, you’d really only be spending about $320 on the 5070. I think that makes it worth it! But if possible, you might want to look into the 5070 Ti or 9070 XT for even better performance.

It’s definitely worth it if you can sell your 3070 for a good price, ideally between $400-$500 if you know how to sell it. But don’t go below $350. Just be realistic about the resale prices right now—some people doubt you'll get that much for a 3070 nowadays.
