Should I Upgrade from Ryzen 7 3700X for Better Gaming Performance?

I'm considering upgrading my Ryzen 7 3700X because I feel like it's not delivering the gaming performance I want. I mainly play story-driven games and Valorant, averaging around 180-240 FPS, but I'd love to consistently hit over 280 FPS, which is what my monitor supports. The obvious choices would be the Ryzen 7 5700X3D or 5800X3D, but since the market is tight after those models were discontinued, I'm wondering if I should just settle for another AM4 CPU or take the plunge to an AM5 platform. Right now, my setup includes an RTX 3070, an ASROCK B450m motherboard, and 32 GB of Corsair Vengeance RAM at 3600MHz.

You might want to consider looking at other CPUs in the 5000 series like the 5600X, 5700X, and 5800X. They offer a decent boost in performance and considering the games you play, it could make a significant difference. Also, check out this video that dives into the comparisons! Just a heads-up, make sure to update your BIOS before installing any of these newer processors on your B450 board.

Good point about the BIOS! I've seen people run into issues when they skip that step. Any specific recommendations on which CPU to prioritize?

The 5600X is a solid option on a budget, and you can usually find it at a reasonable price right now!

If you're open to a different upgrade path, you might manage to snag a standard 5700X at a decent price. In the future, consider upgrading your GPU to something like a RTX 4070; that could also help boost those FPS numbers!
