I recently upgraded my graphics card from a 4GB Radeon RX 580 to a 16GB Radeon RX 9060 XT. The rest of my system has 32GB of DDR4 RAM using four 8GB Corsair Vengeance sticks, an ASRock B560M-C motherboard, and an 11th-generation Intel Core i5-11400F running at 2.60GHz. I'm also using a low-cost 600W power supply and already understand that replacing it with a better unit may be important. Since the i5-11400F is now one of the older parts in my system, I'm wondering whether it will noticeably limit the new graphics card and whether I can upgrade the CPU without replacing the motherboard and memory. Is moving to a faster CPU on this platform worthwhile, or would I be better off leaving the system as it is for now?

The i5-11400F may not be holding back the RX 9060 XT in most games. It’s still reasonably close to CPUs such as the Ryzen 5 5600X and Core i5-12400F, which are generally enough for this level of graphics card. If your GPU is reaching high usage and delivering the frame rates you want, replacing the CPU won’t provide much benefit.
Before buying anything, monitor CPU and GPU usage while playing the games that concern you. If the GPU is close to 95–100% usage, the graphics card is the limiting part and your CPU is doing fine. If one or more CPU cores are maxed out while GPU usage stays low, or you’re seeing stuttering and poor minimum frame rates, then a CPU upgrade may help. Also make sure XMP is enabled for your memory.
Your motherboard supports 10th- and 11th-generation Intel CPUs, so the practical upgrade options are an 11th-generation i7 or i9. However, those chips usually aren’t a great value today, especially compared with moving to a newer platform that would require a new motherboard and possibly new RAM. I wouldn’t upgrade automatically just because the CPU is older—check actual performance first.
An i5-11400F paired with 32GB of RAM and a card around the RX 9060 XT’s performance level is still a perfectly usable gaming system. An 11th-generation i7 or i9 could improve some CPU-heavy games, but the price often isn’t justified. Put the power supply first: replace the cheap 600W unit with a reputable model, likely around 750W depending on the card manufacturer’s requirements. Seasonic and Corsair both make good units; the exact model and quality tier matter more than the brand.
So there’s no major reason to prefer Seasonic over Corsair? I’ll compare specific models and reviews rather than choosing based only on the logo.

That makes sense. I mostly assumed it was a bottleneck because it’s one of my oldest components and some games list newer CPUs in their recommended requirements, but I’m still learning how to judge this properly.
