Should I Upgrade My GPU Now or Wait?

I'm considering upgrading my GPU soon because prices are expected to rise next year due to increasing flash prices. Currently, I have a Ryzen 9 3900X paired with a GTX 2070 Super and 32GB of DDR4 RAM, which handles most games pretty well—even the newer titles, as long as I adjust the settings. I'm thinking about getting an RTX 5070 soon, even if I might experience some bottlenecking, with plans to upgrade my CPU later. I also want to get a Steam Deck and I'm weighing whether the upgrade makes sense given the anticipated price increases over the next couple of years. If it weren't for these price hikes, I wouldn't be considering it for another year or so.

Honestly, I think it's a good idea to upgrade now. I'm on the hunt for a 5080 to move up from my 4070 Ti Super. The way I see it, the PC market could be rocky for a few years due to AI demand, so waiting might not be smart.

I’d suggest considering an overall upgrade. I had a similar setup with a Ryzen 7 3700 and a 2070 Super, and I just upgraded to a Ryzen 9 9800X3D with an RTX 5070 Ti. It’s a solid jump!

If you can swing it, try to grab the RTX 5070 Ti instead. It's significantly better than the regular 5070 with 16GB of VRAM compared to the 12GB. Just a heads up though, for CPU upgrades, you might hit a wall since you'd have to switch to an AM5 setup, which includes a new motherboard and DDR5 RAM—definitely more of an investment!

Prices for RAM are outrageous right now! I bought my DDR5 kit for $150, and now it's reselling for like $550. It's nuts.

He could opt for something like the Ryzen 7 5800X3D or stick with the AM4 platform for now. With RAM prices being wild, it might be more cost-effective.
