I have an older Dell Inspiron 620 and want to improve it for gaming. My budget is under $1,000 CAD, and I'm trying to figure out which upgrades should take priority. Are there any useful guides or tutorials I should follow, or would I be better off replacing the system entirely? I'm located in Canada.

Before choosing parts, it would help to know your actual maximum budget. “Under $1,000” could mean $700, $900, or almost the full amount, and that changes which graphics card and other components make sense. Either way, I’d treat the old Dell as a secondary computer rather than a foundation for a gaming upgrade.
That system is roughly 15 years old, so there really isn’t a worthwhile upgrade path. The processor, motherboard, power supply, and likely the case and storage would all limit modern gaming. With a budget under $1,000 CAD, you’ll get a much better result by building or buying a newer gaming PC instead of upgrading the Inspiron.
