Should I Upgrade My PC Now or Hold Off?

I'm running a Ryzen 7 5800X on an AM4 platform with an Asus Prime B550 Plus and 32GB of DDR4 3200MHz RAM. I've had this setup for about 5 years, and after upgrading to a 5070 Ti GPU, it handles ultrawide 1440p gaming quite well. However, given the rising costs in the PC market, I'm considering switching to an AM5 setup before it gets even pricier. I found a good bundle at Microcenter for $679, and if I sell my current components, the overall cost wouldn't be too bad. Still, I'm wondering if the hassle of selling my existing parts and doing a rebuild is worth it. I'd love to hear thoughts from anyone who's been in a similar position.

Honestly, prices are already crazy. If your system is running fine, just stick with it for now.

I’d say stick with your current setup! If you’ve got a recent GPU upgrade, you should be fine for a while.

True, but I'm worried about CPU limitations with future games.

It really depends on your location. If you're near Microcenter, upgrading makes sense. After selling your current setup for about $350-400, the AM5 upgrade could cost you around $250-300. Plus, the 9800X3D is a huge upgrade and should keep you going for another 5 years. But at 1440p, you might still feel some CPU limitations, depending on what games you play. What GPU did you upgrade to?

I got a 5070 Ti, so that should help, right?

Absolutely! That GPU will pair nicely with an upgraded CPU.

I have a similar setup and I'm waiting until AM6 comes out. With prices as they are, I just don't see a compelling reason to upgrade right now.
